NDIS support, South East Melbourne
Accommodation and Tenancy Assistance in South East Melbourne
A home can slip out of reach when letters pile up, an inspection is coming, or a lease is hard to follow. One missed notice is enough to create stress, even when you want to stay where you are. Accommodation and tenancy assistance is practical NDIS support for the tasks that keep housing stable.
Melbourne Care Ability helps participants across South East Melbourne understand a tenancy, prepare for a move, and sort everyday housing tasks. We work with you, your family, and your support coordinator. You make the decisions. We help with the steps. If this support is in your plan and we have capacity, you can ask us to talk it through.
What is accommodation and tenancy assistance, and why you need it
Accommodation and tenancy assistance helps a person find a place to live, keep a place to live, or meet the responsibilities that come with a home. It is support with the tasks, not the rent itself. That can include reading a lease in plain language, getting ready for an inspection, contacting an agent, or planning a move.
People ask for this support when housing feels uncertain. A new rental, a notice from a landlord, a change in who you live with, or a first move out of the family home can all be hard to manage alone. Clear help early can prevent a small problem from becoming a lost tenancy.
This support sits beside your choices. You decide where you want to live and who is involved. We explain options in everyday words, go at your pace, and respect culture, family roles, and privacy.
Our accommodation and tenancy assistance process
-
1
Step 1: Initial conversation
We listen to what is happening with your home, what you want to change, and who should be part of the conversation. You can come to us as a participant, a family member, a support coordinator, or a plan manager.
-
2
Step 2: Housing goal and match
We confirm the tasks you want help with, the suburbs that matter to you, and the kind of worker who is a good fit. We tell you honestly if we cannot take the referral.
-
3
Step 3: Service agreement
Before support starts, you receive a service agreement you can read and question. Nothing begins until you have had time to review it.
-
4
Step 4: Practical tenancy support
Your worker helps with the agreed tasks, such as forms, inspections, moving plans, or conversations with an agent. We review the plan when your housing situation changes.

Frequently asked questions
What does NDIS accommodation and tenancy assistance cover?
It covers support to obtain or keep suitable accommodation and to manage tenancy tasks. That can include understanding a lease, preparing for inspections, planning a move, and dealing with housing paperwork. It does not usually pay your rent, bond, or utilities. Those costs sit outside this support. We will tell you plainly if a request is not something this support can fund.
Can you help me if I am at risk of losing my rental?
Yes, if this support is in your plan and we have a worker available. Contact us early, and bring any notices you have received. We can help you understand the letter, list the next steps, and decide who else should be involved, such as a tenancy service or your support coordinator. We do not give legal advice. If you need legal help, we will say so.
Do I have to move if I use this support?
No. Many people use accommodation and tenancy assistance to stay in the home they already have. A move is only part of the support when that is your goal, or when your current home is no longer suitable and you choose to look elsewhere.
Who can make the referral?
Participants, families and carers, support coordinators, and plan managers can all enquire. We will ask who we may speak with, and we will not share your housing details beyond the people you agree to.
Which suburbs do you cover?
We support participants across South East Melbourne, including Casey, Greater Dandenong, Frankston, Monash, Kingston, and the Mornington Peninsula. If your suburb is nearby and not listed, ask us and we will confirm whether we can help.
Talk to us about your home
If a lease, a move, or a housing letter is weighing on you, start with a conversation. Tell us your suburb and what you need help with. We will let you know whether accommodation and tenancy assistance is the right fit, and whether we have capacity.
